in to break up the fight. thins got intention as officers responded as you see just moments ago, someone tossed a drink at one of the officers who was trying to handcuff a fan. ktvu's's matt keller tells us many fans were indeed escorted out. >> reporter: yeah heather, some of the lights still remain on after an exciting day for earthquake fans but for l.a. galaxy fans it wasn't as fun especially for several of those siting in that section, several of them ended up in jail. >> reporter: fans were loud tonight at the earthquake's game against the l.a. galaxy including the angel city brigade. but a fight between fans in the second half was beginning resulted in two smoke bombs going on and police say officers were assaulted bid several galaxy fans. >> what didded i do wrong? >> reporter: police say at least seven people were arrested the whole section of

friday night so workers could repair a cracked beam and repair the section of deck above it. this section crews replaced 12 panels similar to the ones you see right here. six of each side of highway 82. right now they're tieing the cables together. thanks to good weather and good luck the job went off without a hitch rarely the case in construction. >> the best i can tell you is that all of the work just came together. the panels fit appropriately. the equipment was here. >> reporter: caltrans says finishing early does not increase the cost of the project, the contractor is not getting a bonus or finishing early. instead officials say it's the taxpayers who are benefiting. >> we did two months worth of work during the 55 hour closure, the electrical crew relamped the mini plaza. a lot of maintenance work was done. >> reporter: in addition to the

repairs crews completed maintenance holes, clearing potholes and clearing away trash. finishing touches caltrans did not expect to start until next weekend. >> now next weekend the bridge will be open there will be no more foreclosure. >> past the toll, plaza crews are working through the night. caltrans tells us that this bridge is on schedule to reopen at five tomorrow morning. reporting live at the san mateo bridge, patti lee, ktvu channel two news. an overnight fire did significant damage to a historic church. it happened at the good shepherd episcopal church on hurst avenue. the fire started in the rear of the building where offices were located. a garden saw the flames and grabbed a garden hose to stop the fire. >> i was dozing off and i saw a funny glow and twinkling lights and i thought they might have been lights next door and i looked out the window and it looked like fire.

>> reporter: according to its website the good shepherd church is the oldest continuously used church in the bay area built back in 1878. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. fire investigators in lake county are still searching for the cause of a destructive wildfire there. the fire started thursday along highway 29 near the community of lower lake. a few miles south of clear lake it was contained last night. but not before it burned about 300 acres, destroyed one home and several other outbuildings and vehicles. firefighters plan to stay in the area for the next several days to watch for any flair ups. vallejo's tenth officer involved shooting of the year happened early this morning on a residential street on the north part of the city. as allie rasums explains there was bizarre behavior involving two naked men before the shooting. >> reporter: dozens of officers with their guns drawn moved in

on this neighborhood. >> they had officers from highway patrol and pretty much probably all vallejo police department. >> reporter: a fight between two men who lived in this home 28 and 29 years old is what prompted that police response. somewhere -z there's a lot of bang -- there's a lot of banging, a lot of screaming i couldn't make out a lot of the words. >> they started damaging each other's property and started throwing bricks through each other's windows. >> reporter: neighbors called 911. when police arrived they saw a naked man. a fellow officer fearing for their safety shot the man killing him. his roommate was taken into custody. >> i seen one guy being taken away by the police and there was another guy laying in the driveway. >> reporter: minutes after that officers noticed the house was on fire. >> the whole back of the house just became quickly engulfed. >> police believe the two men in the home tried to set their

fire during their argument. investigators suspect the two men were under the influence of an illegal substance. the incident is being investigated by vallejo police and the officers involved are being placed under administrative leave during the investigation. national polls show the presidential race a dead heat. and those taken in swing states are nearly as tied. marco rubio shrugged off the use of obama's campaign of romnesia. >> for the rest of americans who are trying to make up their mind, that's very cute mr. mt. -- mr. president but what are you going to do for the future? >> mitt romney relaxed treating his family to dinner in florida. the polls show romney with a

officials at an east bay high school are looking into a secret tradition. the sexual fantasy league created by male student athletes. >> reporter: piedmont high school is the home of the highlanders it's also home to a controversial organization. school officials say the male varsity sports teams set up what they've call a fantasy slut league. >> just the title alone can be very demeaning. >> reporter: the school has been investigateing the fantasy league. on friday the school principal sent a letter home to parents. over the past five to six years such a league has existed in one form or another. as part of a bonding for some varsity teams during their season of sports. they said the league included of female students were drafted and would earn points by male

reports mirkarimi wrote mayor ed lee to ask for a meeting in the spirit of reconciliation. the request was met with silence. mirkarimi tried to fire the sheriff due to domestic violence. the board voted to keep the sheriff in office. an update now on that hazardous chemical spill that we told you about. add midnight authorities finally gave the all clear and allowed 15 people back into their homes following the incident that started hours earlier. happened around 7:30 last night when firefighters evacuated two four story builders after a man used a poisonous gas to kill himself. that gas was very dangerous and lethal, no one other than that suicide victim was injured. >> fabulous at 50. >> how the raider nation celebrated five de

that hat. >> pretty good night for the giant's fan. we shift our attention to game seven. some wet weather expected in the area. >> the rainfall already moving in right now, kind of just took a walk outside the station and felt a few sprinkles out there. the heaviest rainfall -- the heaviest rain set for the morning commute. but as far as game time showers out there. bad news in one perspective we'll have to watch for heavy rainfall and wet roadways as you head out the door first thing tomorrow morning. you can see the latest right now on live storm tracker 2 radar. mostly on the light side looking into san francisco and oakland. going back out, you will see more intense celling developing to the pacific. you will notice this with the yellows and reds showing up. some of the rainfall deficits those reds link up with rainfall. so nearly a quarter of an inch

an hour. the key headline, heavy rain picking up over the next few hours, heaviest between 7:00 and 10:00 could be 6:00 to 9:00 tomorrow morning. watch out for ponding on the local roadways, a longer commute potentially and gusty winds right along 40 miles per hour. the commute tomorrow morning will be a bit of a challenge out there with all that accumulating water that will be a factor over the next few hours. overnight lows, will be in the 40s to the lower 50s with that rainfall gradually spreading to the south. santa rosa 49 degrees. here is the overnight set up. this cold front will be moving in and this will be the source of the rainfall first thing tomorrow morning. early tomorrow morning into the afternoon hours scattered showers, but in association with the rain the winds will

gust to 40 miles per hour. this front moves through but we still have this circulation out here in the pacific. for tuesday the chance of a shower and then for wednesday we're going to bump up the shower chances but the heaviest event that will be happening over the next few hours. look at this, we have a winter storm warning in place for the sierra until 5:00 tuesday morning. snowfall will be around six to 12-inches. but here's all the rainfall i'm talking about first thing monday morning. so give yourself extra time, be extra careful on the roadways. into the afternoon hours, breaks in the clouds, clouds and pop up showers that's why you have to hang on to the possibility of showers tomorrow afternoon by the 5:00 hour here. you will notice it's not everywhere just pop up showers out there. forecast highs will be mainly in the 60s. temperatures have been really cooling off that trend will continue for your monday. san jose right around 65. fremont 65, and san francisco 61 degrees. here is a look ahead your five day forecast. a chance of a shower on
